Have You Tried Our Thai Coffee ?

Attention Coffee Lovers!

Have You Tried Our Thai Coffee?

Whether it’s coffee to help wake you up in the morning or to help cool you down after a day of serious shopping, Thai coffee has it all. These two brands of Thai coffee, Doi Tung Coffee and Banrie Coffee has shown that Thai coffee is now in the spotlight, and with branches spread out through Bangkok, it’s not hard to find a place to relax with a nice cup of their aromatic blend.

Though the name suggests morning mist in the mountains, you don’t have to travel that far to taste Doi Tung’s coffee, which originates from Doi Tung, Chiangrai, in the north of Thailand. Now you can taste original Doi Tung’s aromatic blends right here in Bangkok. Café Doi Tung is located in Suan Lum Night Bazaar which is easily accessible, being right next to the Suan Lum MRT station.

Doi Tung coffee is a product from the Mae Fa Luang Project in Chiangrai, which is a project to support hill tribe people. The income generated from the sales of Doi Tung coffee goes to help the members, so this is the reason for the shop’s slogan, “Great Taste, Great Aspiration”.

The shop is decorated in a cosy manner, with hand-woven curtains from hill tribes in Chiangrai, orange paper lamps and pictures of smiling hill tribes on the walls. The main attraction here is the Thai Arabica coffee beans, which have been carefully roasted to get the best flavors. Try the Caffe Latte which goes great with homemade macademia brownies, made with Doi Tung’s famous macadamias. In the mood for a cold drink? Try the Chocolate Frappe, here made without condensed milk but still sweet and creamy. Catching up with the Japanese trend, the shop also has Kokuto Latte, a cross between Thai coffee and Japanese flavor. In the mood for some shopping? Take some of their famous coffee beans, macadamias and hand made terra cotta mugs home with you!

Another famous brand of Thai coffee, Banrie Coffee, takes pride in their special blends of the local coffee beans such as Asia Bork Blend and Banrie Bork Blend, both from the north of Thailand. Though they have branches throughout the country, you might want to try their Ekkamai branch. This spacious round-the-clock branch right next to Ekkamai BTS station is decorated in a very Thai setting: bare bricks imitating the Ayuttaya-era temples and leafy trees to protect those who prefer sitting outdoors. However, if you prefer the air-con, don’t hesitate to walk inside their two-storey shop and relax on one of their dark wood stools surrounding cute little tables.

As for the coffee, try the Bangkok Bork Blend, a Thai-styled latte sweetened with either condensed milk or sugar, your choice. Also, to go with the coffee, Banrie Coffee also offers food, bakery items and desserts. Another unique feature to be found here are the Thai legends, traditions and places to visit stylishly printed on their coffee cups, so as you sip your iced-cold latte, you can catch up on some Thai culture, too.

There’s never such a time too early in the morning or too late at night for coffee, so visit one of these two coffee shops and try Thai coffee in a cozy setting, and maybe even learn more about Thai culture.
