The skies of Thailand are busier than ever these days with the addition of more and more low-cost carriers in addition to the national carrier Thai Airways International.  Among these are Nok Air, Bangkok Airways, Orient Thai Airlines, and One-Two-Go Airlines. Most fly out of the new international airport Suvarnabhumi, but some domestic flights will fly out of the old airport north of Bangkok, Don Muang; so be sure to go to the right airport.

All of the airlines are perfectly fine, though like everywhere else in the world, the cheap ones are cheaper for a reason: they have no frills, and most everything must be paid for onboard. Also, it is sometimes cheaper to pay a bit more for a ticket on THAI than to pay for any overweight baggage you might have; check your baggage weight and the airline’s allowance before booking.
