Seeing the exquisite Thai Royal Barge Procession with your own eyes can be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. This rare spectacle of the royal journey to present Kratin robes to Wat Arun is scheduled for 27th October, with two full-dress rehearsals on 15th and 22nd October.
The Royal Barge Procession – a uniquely Thai tradition passed down from the Sukhothai era – is a ceremonial fleet of barges for the monarch. This year’s event will feature 52 royal barges, organised into five formations, with 2,200 personnel manning the vessels.
Members of the public and tourists can view the procession from both sides of the Chao Phraya River, from Rama VIII Bridge to Wat Arun. We recommend the following six piers: Tha Wang Lang, Tha Phra Chan, Tha Phra Chan Tai, Tha Trok Mahathat, Tha Rod Fai, and Tha Maharaj, where seating can be reserved for both the rehearsals and the royal ceremony.
The reservations can be made direct to the operators via LINE: @supatraboat and @thamaharaj.
