Negrito Village is in Moo 3, Tambon Baan Rae, 80 km. away from Yala's city centre.
The Negrito, or known in Thai as "Sakai", do not exist just in the famous Thai literature of King Rama V; they actually still exist in Yala province. In the Negrito Village, get to know the real Negrito, which a nomadic ethnic group residing in tropical rainforests in the South of Thailand. Originally, they are known for living off hunting and gathering. Their accommodations are huts usually made of bamboos and banana leaves. Then, the Department of Public Welfare gathered all Negritos to live together in one village and provided them with jobs. Moreover, every of them also have a special surname given by Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra. These days, however, their lifestyle has been more and more urbanised, but a lot of them are still living in this village and are happy to welcome tourists. Visiting this village is a great chance to learn that ethnic difference is not an obstacle of friendship.
