The Royal Thai Army Museum in Honor of His Majesty the King is located in the Royal Thai Army headquarters, on RachadamnoenNok Road. It is an old building built in 1882, during the reign of King Rama V. Inside, the museum exhibits the evolution of Thai Army in various aspects through these categories; Weapon Roomdisplays examples of soft weapons that Thai Army used since Ayutthaya Era until the time of Vietnam War. Flag and Military Equipment Roomfeatures the "Chai Chalermphol" Flag of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, which the Royal Thai Army has brought to exhibit in this room. The flag is the object of reverence that every soldiers need to respect, worship and preserve it with his life, because the flag stands for the nation. Apart from the display of the "Chai Chalermphol" flag that the Royal Thai Army has received from the Kings of Thailand for many reigns, the room also displays military tools and equipment that the Royal Thai Army used in the past. Uniform and Military Insignia Roomis where the exhibition on the evolution of Thai Army uniforms and insignia since the Sukhothai Era and Rattanakosin Era until the current uniform of the Royal Thai Army, is presented.Army History Roommodels 18 important events of heroic deeds and situations of the Royal Thai Army that affected the national security. BarameePokKloa Room exhibits a bronze figure of King Rama V in his actual size and portraits of former Commanders in Chief of the Royal Thai Army in chronological order. This room is also a place where the inauguration ceremony for the new Commander in Chief, has been organized since 1995. Evolution of Royal Thai Army Roomdisplays Thai history and the evolution of Royal Thai Army since the foundation of Thai Kingdom. The Royal Thai Army Museum opens on Monday-Friday, from 8.30 a.m. to 16.30 p.m., with free entranceand closes on weekends and holidays.
